Saturday morning we left Galveston Island for the ferry to Port Bolivar. The Galveston-Port Bolivar ferry is the bridge between two segments of State Highway 87, the only highway around Galveston Bay. The 2.7 mile, 18 minute free service is provided by the Texas Department of Transportation and is the only way that motorists can cross the waterway between the Bolivar Peninsula and Galveston Island.
