After the Nelson-Atkins Monet Water Lilies exhibit, I went to dinner at Skies Restaurant on the 42nd floor of the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Kansas City's Crowne Center.
During dinner I was informed that in 1981 114 people were killed and hundreds of others injured in the hotel when the fourth floor walkway in the atrium collapsed on the second floor walkway during a tea dance attended by over 1,600 people. Later it was found that the tie-rods supporting the walkway did not meet Kansas City building codes.
Nice views anyway though.....
