Shawnee Mission Park

On the way home from JCCC this afternoon I stopped at Shawnee Mission Park. The park is the largest in Johnson County and the most visited in the state. This 1,250 acre refuge includes a 150 acre lake, ponds, marshes, forests, and meadows. An 11 mile asphalt trail meanders through the park where you can spot white-tailed deer, foxes, wild turkeys, squirrels, and numerous birds. The John Barkley Visitors Center is located at the entrance where you can see a display telling the history of the Johnson County parks.
