Savannah has been home to a number of famous Americans:

Conrad Aiken - Pulitzer Prize winning author and poet

Gregg Allman - singer, keyboardist, guitarist, and songwriter known for being a founding member of the Allman Brothers band (and marrying Cher)

Paula Deen - Food Network superstar

Johnny Mercer - acclaimed lyricist and songwriter, buried in Bonaventure Cemetery, writer of Moon River and Days of Wine and Roses, has a statue in Ellis Square

Flannery O'Connor - author of short stories, novels, and numerous essays

Juliette Gordon Low - founder of the Girl Scouts

James and Stacey Keach - actors and producer
