After the Jason Lindner and Breeding Ground concert at the Jazz Gallery I walked over to Sullivan's Hall in Greenwich Village for YahZarah's midnight show. YahZarah (aka Dana Williams) rose to fame as a backup singer for Erykah Badu. She began singing at age 7 in church choir and won a youth talent search at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC at age 10. After years of honing her talent, she entered high school at the prestigious Duke Ellington School of the Arts. YahZarah attended North Carolina Central University on a full scholarship in the jazz program. The name YahZarah means "Queen Mother is the brightest star."
