Dale Chihuly, a glass artist from Tacoma, Washington, had Red Reeds, one of his installations, on display in the Kennedy Center's entrance plaza reflecting pool. Chihuly, who in 1976 was blinded in one eye as a result of a head-on car collision, has his glass sculptures displayed worldwide. I have seen many of Dale's works, not only in Tacoma at the Museum of Glass, but also in Oklahoma City, Columbus, Ohio and Dallas, Texas. They are instantly recognizable.
