Undead Jazz Fest

2 nights - 3 venues - 35+ groups

Hot off the success of Winter JazzFest, the Undead Fest celebrated the many identities of jazz being created today in New York City. The mission was to shake the tired image of jazz as a music of the past and instead show that jazz is a music of the people, hinging on the exciting force of improvisation.

Participants included: Ben Allison Band, Ben Perowsky's Moodswing Orchestra, the Love Trio, the Uri Caine Ensemble, the Ben Wendel Group, Dave Douglas & Keystone, Dan Weiss and Point of Departure, John Hollenbeck Large Ensemble, Nir Felder's Big Heat, the Josh Roseman Unit and the Ari Hoenig/Tim Lefebvre/Jean-Michel Pilc Trio.

The 3 venues, within a block of each other, were (Le) Poisson Rouge, Kenny's Castaways and Sullivan Hall.
