Friday night I attended the Midwest premier of an outstanding solo performance by Brian Stanton called Blank. A birth certificate propeled an adoptee on a fantastic and mysterious quest for identity. Exploring every avenue that could possibly define him as a man, the story's hero ultimately discovered the horrific truth of his birth, an instinctive love for his birth mother, and a grateful dedication to his adoptive family. The talented Mr. Stanton played the parts of 10 characters, from his grandmother his drama teacher to his priest.
Brian Stanton debuted his professional acting career in Kansas City in 1988. Tonight was his return to his hometown with his original solo play, which marked his first turn as playwright.
