Friday night's performance of Symphonic Quixotic at the Lyric Theater was amazing. A "mini Cirque de Soliel," this five year old Kansas City based group created a full spectrum of music with sounds ranging from electronica to tribal to classsical strings.
Composer Anthony Magliano, along with an award winning band composed of drummer Brandon Draper, violinist Shane Borth, keyboardist/vocalist Laura Scarborough, and bassist Rick Willoughby, created the diverse music meant to inspire movement within the group's other half - dancers and aerialists. I was thrilled to see the rare didgeridoo being played.
The Symphonic Quixotic was backed onstage by the Kansas City Pops Orchestra.
