Mike Clark's Indigo Blue at the Iridium

After a yummy dinner of Linguira Frita com Mandioca and Feijoada at Brazil, Brazil on 46th Street, I walked 6 blocks uptown to the Iridium Jazz Club. This night, legendary drummer Mike Clark re-imagined his acclaimed cd Blueprints Of Jazz, which was one of Downbeat magazines best recordings of the decade. Joining Mike were many of the performers from the cd, including Donald Harrison on alto sax, Christian McBride on bass, Rob Dixon on tenor sax, and Antonio Farao, a dynamic pianist from Italy who has been dubbed the Italian Herbie Hancock. Replacing Nicholas Payton, whose father recently passed away, was Wallace Roney on trumpet.
