After a cocktail at The View and dinner at Swing 46 on 46th Street between 8th and 9th, I headed up to 51st and Broadway to the Iridium Jazz Club to see Brazilian pianist Eliane Elias. Eliane was born in Sao Paulo and is also an arranger, vocalist, and songwriter. Eliane was formerly married to trumpeter Randy Brecker and is now married to her bassist, Marc Johnson. Marc was the bassist for pianist Bill Evans, who played on Miles Davis's famous record Kind of Blue.
Joining Eliane was Marc Johnson on bass, Rubens de La Corte on guitar, and Rafael Barata on drums and percusssion.
Eliane has released 26 albums, mostly in the Bossa Nova style.
