3rd Floor Galleries

The 3 galleries/exhibits on this floor are:

1. Works by Robert Rauschenberg - The inventiveness, wit, range, and sense of humanity made Rauschenberg one of the most important and influential American artists of the past half century. Rauschenberg's "combines" (which combine elements of painting and sculpture) helped set American art on a new course in the 1950's. He worked in a variety of mediums including photography, sculpture, silk screening, and electronics. Rauschenberg left New York City in the 1960's and lived and worked his last years on his 35 acre Captiva Island estate. He became the first living American artist to be fetured on the cover of Time magazine.

2. Blossom II: The Art of Flowers - Here are over 100 works by a variety of contemporary artists who have interpeted the theme of flowers in numerous styles, techniques, and mediums.

3. Dale Chihuly's Persian Ceiling - This art glass ceiling is over 49 feet long and almost 6 feet wide and is made up of over 600 individual pieces.
