The historic Potomac Eagle Scenic Railroad is one of America's most beautiful train rides. It is a 3 hour narrated excursion through a pristine and tranquil mountain valley alongside which runs the South Branch of the Potomac River. Above are high mountain walls and thick forests. This valley is also the eastern home of the American bald eagle.
The train departs from the Wappocomo Station outside Romney, West Virginia, and runs over a former Baltimore and Ohio Railroad line. Interesting historical note: Romney, WVA, changed hands 56 times during the Civil War!
