Northern Central Railroad Biking Trail

Today, in the 95 degree heat, I took a bike ride on the Northern Central Railroad Biking Trail. This 41 mile long trail follows nearly all rural terrain with much of it alongside the Gunpowder Falls River. The NCR trail begins in the small community of Ashland, Maryland, and continues north 20 miles to the Mason-Dixon Line. Here it enters Pennsylvania where it continues another 21 miles to York, PA. The southern 10 miles is quite flat, but after Monkton, where there is a general store and visitor's center, the grade increases to 3%. I was lucky enough to see a doe and fawn cross in front of me and managed to get a photo of the twin fawn which trotted across the trail afterward.
