Wednesday night I drove to DC to see my music pal Sy Smith perform with Wes Felton at Ben's Next Door on U Street.
33 year old Sy Olivia Smith is an Emmy nominated singer and songwriter often called the Queen of Underground Indie Soul. She appeared on the TV series Ally McBeal and American Idol (main backup singer) and as a backup vocalist has toured with Macy Gray and Whitney Houston. Last month she opened for Prince at LA's Forum with the Sheila E and the E Family band.
And thanks, Sy, for the birthday shout out. That was so sweet.
