Saturday's trip also included a stop at the (free) Baltimore Museum of Art. The museum was featuring its Cone Collection, a large group of artwork collected by Claribel and Etta Cone. The sisters traveled extensively to Europe almost yearly on long trips starting in 1901. They became friends with Henri Matisse, who offered them many of his works upon completion. They also befriended Pablo Picasso, Gertrude Stein and Alice B. Toklas. The sisters lived in adjoining apartments on Eutaw Street in downtown Baltimore for 50 years.
